Built by Design, LLC was established in 2004 when owners Dave Schmidt and Mike Schwartz decided to leave their corporate jobs behind in order to fulfill their mutual dream of business ownership. At first focusing on residential remodeling, Dave and Mike quickly built a solid reputation for quality craftsmanship, superior customer service and client satisfaction far beyond expectations. Dedicated to open, honest and on-going communication, Mike and Dave have taken construction project management to a new level.

Both Mike and Dave have impressive resumes which include more than 20 years experience managing high-visibility, multi-million dollar projects. They’ve learned that clear communication, mutual respect and a high level of trust lead to the best outcome for everyone involved and they’ve put that knowledge to work in the construction field. Built by Design’s clients can be confident that they will be kept informed during all phases of the design/build process.

Built by Design’s superior craftsmanship and attention to detail recently earned them a prestigious NARI 2009 Remodel of the Year Gold Medal for a master bath project, as well as a Silver Medal and "All-Star" designation for a kitchen remodel. We also were the receipiant of the Silver Medal in Kansas City Homes & Gardens Magazine “Remodel Of The Year” competition for 2007. Determined to constantly exceed client expectations, Built by Design promises to deliver a custom remodel project using only the highest quality materials in a timely manner while meeting/exceeding strict building codes; all while keeping an open channel of communication with the client. Rest assured, your remodeling project will be personally overseen by Mike or Dave during all phases of construction.
